7th Grade Year

Huge projects, end of the year exams, and teachers rushing to get some grades in. Oh! It must be the end of the year! Hooray! No school, no teachers, no homework, but only(sadly) for 3 months. Now, lets see how my year went.

At the beginning of the year, I thought I would have just about the same friends, but I was TOTALLY wrong. Since I had a different schedule with a ton of people I didn’t know, I was bound to make new friends. I have met new friends and friend groups that I didn’t even notice last year! Thanks to them, I have explored more TV shows (especially Sherlock) and other things. Some things have changed from sixth grade like how easy it is to remember your locker combination. I don’t even think about it anymore, its muscle memory! Also, the cafeteria loves Sun Chips. There are one line of every chip bag and 5 for Sun Chips.

Overall the friend situation went well in this grade but the homework was horrid. With math homework everyday and possibly science, it usually keeps me up.

Stuck in my head!!!!!

You know that music that always just comes back to you and you cant stop hearing it in your head? Annoying right! Here are some of the song that cant get out of my head!

1. Happy

OK, this one is SUPER obvious. Almost everybody knows this song. If you don’t, you might have been living under a rock for the past 6 months. Having repeated lyrics and a constant tempo, This song is EXTREMELY catchy. I would be surprised if the tune was not stuck in your head right now.

2. Any Phantom Of The Opera Music

Thanks to the English teachers, these songs are stuck and the wont get out of my head.  Anything from Masquerade to This Is The Point Of No Return, every single one is stuck. We went over them so many times that they wont get out until hopefully next year.

3. Demons

Imagine Dragons is a relatively new popular band (thanks to radioactive which is FINALLY not in my head). They have made a couple of big hits like Its Time, Radioactive, and this one, Demons. Demons is by far the song I listen to the most(Its my favorite). I think this one is stuck in my head just because I listen to it VERY often, possibly more than any other song.

These are some of this ANNOYING songs that are like a disease in my head. What are some songs that are stuck in your head?

Messy Room

Whosever room this is should be ashamed!
His underwear is hanging on the lamp.
His raincoat is there in the overstuffed chair,
And the chair is becoming quite mucky and damp.
His workbook is wedged in the window,
His sweater’s been thrown on the floor.
His scarf and one ski are beneath the TV,
And his pants have been carelessly hung on the door.
His books are all jammed in the closet,
His vest has been left in the hall.
A lizard named Ed is asleep in his bed,
And his smelly old sock has been stuck to the wall.
Whosever room this is should be ashamed!
Donald or Robert or Willie or–
Huh? You say it’s mine? Oh, dear,
I knew it looked familiar!

By Shel Silverstein

I chose this poem because it relates pretty well to me. I usually have a messy room/closet pretty often. It also appeals to me because of its humor. I like funny poems MUCH more than serious poems. Overall, I thought that this poem would work on my blog.

Marley

Marley is one of my two dogs. We got him because in my family when you are 10 years old you get a pet. He is 5 years old, and I remember the time be got him. Here is that story.

It was a delightful January day, warmer than usual (it was about 55 degrees), my brothers birthday, and a great day to get a dog. We drove over to the pet store and saw 2 rescued dogs. One black and one white. This was a decision my family would have to make, the black or the white. Me (being my 8 year old self) preferred the black one. But we all knew that decision cam up to the boss, my brother. After long thought, my brother chose the white one.

Now was the hard part, what to name this dog. Me (again, being my 8 year old self) thought snowball was a GREAT name because of his white coat. But unfortunately, it was my brothers choice AGAIN. Since the movie Marley and Me came out recently, my brother chose Marley as he name.(even though the Marley in the movie is a female and our dog was a male)

After bringing him home we found out about some of his personalities. Just as we put him down he ran upstairs and hid under the couch for 2 hours. He was shy at first, but we soon realized that he was a CRAZY DOG. He now runs around, being a total spaz.

Since then,  Marley’s coat has gotten more tan in more places, and he is SUPER hairy.

Apps

Ahhhhhhh apps. They’re a way of life. But they can be a curse. here are some of the apps that i have deleted.

1.Wrestle Jump

I deleted this app because nobody played it anymore. I thought it was a fun game but it didn’t have enough features. It could have had a campaign, three player, something to make it longer. I like this game, but it unfortunately it didn’t have enough to offer. If it had more things I would have kept it.

2. Quisr

This game had  plenty of potential, but it didn’t use it. It didn’t have categories or anything. Only if this app added many more features i might have kept it. Lastly, it got boring REALLY fast. Without features, a game cannot last.

3. Zen Pinball

This game is great because it almost feels like you are actually playing pinball. With great mechanics, this game could go far. The only reason it is small is because you have to pay for other machines. This really sucks because you are always playing one level. That is why I deleted this app.

4. Clumsy Ninja

This game was A LOT of fun for the first few days. You would throw around this rag doll ninja and mess with him which was much fun. But the game just kept having the same thing over and over and over and over. I would suggest it for a few days, but it couldn’t last for two weeks.

5.Star Wars: Tiny Death Star

This game is great fun, great mechanics, and ENDLESS GAME PLAY. But this game IS THE SAME AS TINY TOWER! It just changed the names and graphics of the stores! I wish they would have changed the whole game play! That is why I HATE this app.

These are some apps I am disappointed in, so please comment whats your least favorite app and why.

Favorite Place In Austin: Top Golf!

Top Golf is a driving range with a twist. I think it is one of the best places to visit in Austin and here are some reasons why.

First off, the twist is that it is a game. It is great for a whole family, even if they don’t play golf. The goal is to hit the golf ball into one of these giant holes and score points. You may think its simple, but its harder than you think. All the holes are spread out and are different sizes ( usually the closer they are the closer and less points they are.) But its good for the kids because if you hit it in the center of a closer hole, it most likely will be worth more points than a far one in the corner. Lastly, if you REALLY don’t want to play, there are x-box games inside. That is why this place is great.

Secondly, its not just golf, its also is a restaurant. While you are playing, waiters serve you food. Top Golf offers pizzas, hamburgers, wings, and more! Its not just that they serve food, the food is actually good. I had a flat bread sausage pizza, and it was really good. Lastly, the greatest part about it is the wait. On spring break, I went to Top Golf at 12:30 PM, and there was no wait if you have a membership card. But if you need a membership card, it was a 5 minute wait. That makes Top Golf a Terrific Place.

Top Golf is a great place to spend a few hours at, I personally think it is one of the best places in Austin. If you don’t like this place, then there is something wrong with you.

The Lair

Cold, dark wind whistles through the deep,  dark cave, reeking of death. Flickering candles there bringing warmth, but not enough. It seems cold and lonely, but I can sense something else in this labyrinth, something evil and cruel, I move onwards to a endless dark lake, the cold water climbing up to my toes–sending a shock up my body. In the distance I see a suited figure, looking still, “is it dead” I think to myself. I better check it out. As I board the rickety old boat, a silver and gold organ plays dreadful music, blasting my ears. The figure slowly walks towards me smiling, like he was happy to see me, but who was this thing? How does it know me? Suddenly, the boat disappears under my feet, and I start to sink. I hear a horrific maniacal laugh behind me, excited for me to die. My life flashes by me, and I fall into an eternal sleep.

Expository writing

In school recently we have been talking about expository writing. I have thought about different ideas, so I decided that I would make them into one post but with only one example.

Why contacts are better than glasses:

For this argument I think contacts are better because of messing with them all day, contacts only make you put on and take off them once. That is why contacts are better than glasses.

Why dogs are better than cats:

Overall dogs are much more friendly. I think cats hide away too much. Unlike cats, dogs are much better at appreciating a new person. That is why dogs are better than cats.

Why headphones are better than earbuds:

When wearing earbuds you can hear everything around you, but when you wear headphones, the cushions block the outside sound. That is why headphones are better than earbuds.

My list for expository writing is endless, and these are some of my favorites. I’m wondering what your favorite expository writing topic is. Please tell me in the comments.

Why Sochi was a bad place for the Olympics

The olympics, millions of people watching, hoping for their country to win gold. I have been watching the olympics for a while and I think Sochi is bad city to have the olympics.

First of all have you seen the weather there? Right now it is 64 degrees! And for the WINTER Olympics! Sochi is next to the Black Sea so it is a beach town. There have been reports about athletes having to stuff ice down their suits! In the WINTER OLYMPICS. Sochi’s climate is bad for the Olympics.

Another reason is Sochi the overall city. Sochi just wasn’t ready for the Olympics. You can find toilets without covers, yellow colored water, bees in you honey, stray dogs, and even unfinished hotels! The Olympic stadiums may look amazing, but there are too many things wrong in the city.

As you can see Sochi is a horrible city for the Winter Olympics. I want to know what you think about the Sochi games and tell me how you like the next Winter Olympics being in South Korea.

Why mistakes are important

X-Rays, silly putty, penicillin, even potato chips were invented/discovered by mistakes! Mistakes have brought a lot of important things in our lives.

Accidents are great! They motivate you to make something better! Say you have a phone, everything’s perfect but then. You see one mistake- that one mistake- you cant stop thinking about it, so then that motivates you to fix that mistake. And who knows, you might invent something new!

Also talking about inventions do you know how many things were invented by mistakes? There is a very long list of them! Ink-jet printers, corn flakes, microwave ovens, and fireworks are a few. You have to be thankful for at least one of them! (especially cornflakes) Mistakes are one of the best parts of life.

As you can see mistakes have created and motivated people to do something . I want to know, if you could take away one mistake, what would it be.
